SWEET SERENDIPITY

Waking up to watch you wake up,
It was like being in the land of the rising sun,
Oh babe, I wasn’t talking about being in Japan,
But surely, I was in my own wonderland.
That morning was bliss
Waking up to watch you wake up, that wasn’t something I could miss.

As you stretch your right hand and open your mouth slightly to yawn,
Oh well that was it, everyday, the most perfect dawn.
As your eyelids lifted and ushered in the light
Looking at you gleam in the morning sun,
It would be futile for me to put up a fight.
Looking at you then, I realised I could look at you without a blink until night.
I knew right then, as you got up and tied your hair in a bun,
I knew right then, there was nowhere I could run.
Nowhere where I would be rid of your beautiful haunting,
So I was all in, even if all this seemed pretty daunting.

So maybe this love will be pain
But I still want to get wet in this rain.
So maybe you have done it all before
But our love, baby, it could be better than folklore.
Maybe you can see this path as one with many fault lines,
That would be true, but it’s going to be a path through the beauty of the pines.
Sometimes it may be stormy, the roof may get blown away,
But I promise, no matter how strong the winds, I’ll hold on to you, i'll look you in the eyes, we’ll sway.

You could be my entire ocean,
Reflecting all of my sky.
I can see you, concocting a most powerful potion.
Just one sip of it, and I know why it’s called the potion of never goodbye.
This tiny moment, a speckle in time
Its changed my life forever, made me come up with this rhyme.
Because you make my fears less scary,
I know if I was ever drowning you would be my ferry.
You make the heights less steep,
You could make an insomniac sleep.
And this is why I need you,
If this were a war, I would happily bleed through.
I would bleed through, just tell me you are the light at the end of the tunnel,
I would make it to you baby, I would squeeze through the smallest of funnels.

Why don’t you and I go on a trip,
Why don’t we run together and slip.
It’s true, it may hurt a little.
But come on, we aint that brittle.
A few falls cannot break us
A mild breeze won’t shake us.
Run with me, with your palms open, I’ll take your hand.
Run with me, we can make this life grand.

You may tell me, that this ship has sailed.
But I would still refuse to believe I’ve failed.
I would chase you across the water
I would swim if I had to, I would swim till I saw your ship, till I spot her.
You may escape to another continent,
But till I reach you, till I hold you, my heart will not be content.
Because I believe this for sure, I believe you are a godsend.

So don’t leave, don’t go away
I will show you all the wonderful possibilities if you stay.
There may be times when I will be wrong,
But each time I am, I promise to write you a beautiful song.
As I watch you this morning, in just your t-shirt , sipping on your tea
I knew in that second that I need to be caged by you to be free.
So don’t run away, come take my hand and run with me.
Come take my hand, hold me, set me free.

So why do you just live your life?
Why do you live your life when you can create it?
So don’t rush to conclusions, when you can wait it.
The act of something dying isn’t a sign of a tough time,
It’s merely an opportunity  to create new life.
So don’t be scared or bogged down when something isn’t right.
It’s just a matter of looking at each strife,
Just a matter of knowing, that between the sunset and the sunrise, there is a whole new day
It’s just that we call it night.

It’s natural to be hesitant
You were not set a right precedent.
But this time its different, its evident.
I will take note of the small things, I won’t be negligent.
So give this a chance,
If you are sick of it always ending the same way
We could do a whole new dance.
Create our own out of tune melody,
We could be our own sweet serendipity.
